FL - Scoop on Disney Boxes?

From: be ma (bema57@hotmail.com) | Date: 2003-07-08 12:13:22 UTC
Hi All!

Be's best bud (who moved away to upper state NY >sniffle, sniffle<) is
going to be in Disney with his family. After listening to us talk about
letterboxing all year (and waving a swinging watch in front of their eyes in
an effort to hypnotize them...) they are finally excited to try it for
themselves.

They are going to be looking for three boxes at Disney. Any advice,
warnings, general info about the state of those boxes that I can pass on to
them? Are they easy or hard? We would dearly love for them to have a great
time and then be hooked for life!

Thanks! BeMa

Hi BeMA -

We did the three Disney boxes just a couple of months ago. They are
all very very easy. One is almost in site of a guard booth though so
they really need to be discreet. The one in Celebration is about ten
feet from a geocache if they like those as well.

My husband and I found the Wilderness Lodge box last year when we went down
for vacation. It was fairly simple to find. We had to do it dead reckoning
though, as we forgot the compass. We didn't have time in our schedule to
look for the other two. It was one of our first boxes. And it had a
hitchhiker in it! Our first! The Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful hotel. It
has a geyser that erupts every so often. Also, tell your friend to have
lunch in the restaurant there. I forget the name but it is the less
expensive of the two in the hotel and is directly off the lobby. Excellent
nachos and, if he's got little kids, they have hobby horses for the kids to
ride. Hope this helps!

Hi Shell! Thanks for the info. I will pass it on to them. It is good to
hear that they aren't too tough as I wouldn't want to get them discouraged
on their first attempts (although we never found our first try --Roosevelt
Island -- and we kept going).

I don't think they know about geocaches. I've never seen one myself. It
would be interesting to find one. We never made it to the one by
"Shaggy"...

Thanks again! BeMa

I found all three in May. Clues are good. Use the advice the clue
giver gives about how to get past entry station. Wilderness Lodge
is worth the visit anyway, and box was easy to find. Other 2 are
also fairly easy. Good luck.

We searched a month or so ago. Here's what we found. The
Celebration is still here & a must see town, we love it there. I
believe "The mouse" has confiscated the two at the Disney hotels.
There was a mouse trap (no I'm not kidding) exactly were the
carribean beach was supposed to be. So either we were off or they
are gone. There is one that is not to far called Sebastian. The
hardest part is getting through the gate guard. Try saying that you
are interested in the property and want to drive by some houses.
There are tons for sale in the neighborhood (I'm in Real Estate-
definitely not a good sign). Watch for ticks at this one. I think
that celebration would hook them for sure
